Swimming Teachers Level 1 & 2
As a Swim Teacher, you will deliver swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and abilities, fostering a safe and engaging learning environment. Your role will involve building swimmers’ water confidence, improving proficiency, and promoting safety awareness. Effective communication and teamwork with parents, students, and colleagues are essential for providing an excellent learning experience.
Edge Swim School may subsidize the cost of the ASA Level 2 Teaching Aquatics Qualification for successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate swim lessons for all age groups and skill levels.
- Create a safe, fun environment that promotes water safety and tracks student progress.
- Provide personalized feedback to improve technique, stamina, and confidence.
- Adapt lessons to meet individual needs, from toddlers to adults.
- Stay updated on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress.
- Assist in organizing classes, preparing materials, and maintaining equipment.
- Supervise the pool, ensuring adherence to safety rules.
- Participate in swim school events, promotions, and ongoing training.
- Monitor swimmers’ progress, conducting assessments based on set criteria.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Current swimming instructor certification (e.g., ASA, STA, or equivalent).
- First Aid/Lifeguard Certification: Preferred or required.
- Experience: Teaching swimming across various age groups and abilities.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of water safety, teaching methods, and swimming techniques.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal skills to engage swimmers and collaborate with team members.
- Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Passion for Swimming: Enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated to promoting water safety.
- Attention to Detail: Focus on maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and move around the pool area for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in an aquatic environment.

Work Environment:
- Primarily based at swimming pools or aquatic centers.
- Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Location & Schedule:
- Venue: All Hallows Catholic School, Weybourne Road, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 9HF.
- Term Time:
- Monday to Friday evenings (5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, 30-minute lessons).
- Saturday afternoons (10:00 am – 12:30 pm, 30-minute lessons).
- School Holidays:
- Monday to Thursday mornings (10:00 am – 12:30 pm, 30-minute lessons).
- Infant/Junior/Primary School Programmes: Various daytime dates throughout the school academic year. Venues may vary but will remain within the Farnham/Ash area.
